Tamaqua Halloween Parade set for Oct. 26

Back on the streets!

The 54th annual Tamaqua Halloween Parade is returning to town on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.

The seasonal tradition was paused last year due to the pandemic.

“It was a heartbreaking decision to make,” said Brian Keich, parade organizer.

“When I looked at it, I didn’t want to take the chance of the general health (of the public), especially with the unknown, before vaccines and everything. The case counts were high at the time, and I couldn’t see making that public risk.”

Keich, who is also the president of the Tamaqua Lions Club, mentioned he has received extra from Mauch Chunk Trust Co., the parade’s corporate sponsor.

“It’s a four-or-five-month ordeal here to get the permitting and everything from the state. We have a lot of good things planned, and we’re looking forward to coming back better than ever before and to just have a great night,” Keich added.

As usual, the parade will start on the east end of Broad Street and move to the west end of town.

Registration is open until Oct. 19. For more information, visit the Tamaqua Halloween Parade Facebook page, or fill out a paper application at a Mauch Chunk Trust Co. location in Tamaqua.

“There will be tons of floats and many different groups. We’ve had a lot of interaction with the community, groups and businesses. I know everyone is looking forward to it, it’s always a highlight of the season for Tamaqua. It’s going to be great to bring back this well-known Tamaqua tradition.”
