Polk Township supervisors met on Monday evening and conducted the following business:
• Announced trick-or-treating in the township will be 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.
• The township is applying for a grant through DEP to repave the recycling area driveway, update signage and get an outdoor forklift.
• Approved the repairs that need to be done to the salt building. It has been deteriorating for a year or so. The salt and water have eaten away at the wood. Park Lane Construction in Clyde, New York, will make the repairs.
• Will contact Bruce George Paving and Excavating as needed this winter to plow.
• The township will reimburse employees for COVID-19 testing.
• Asked the secretary to send out bid documents for anti-skid materials needed this winter.
• The Park and Recreation Committee is planning an educational program for the community, which will be held sometime in May 2022.
• The Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company announced upcoming activities. There will be a spaghetti dinner this Friday from 4-7 p.m. The next all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet is Oct. 17 from 7-11:30 a.m. On Oct. 25, they will host an open house and trunk-or-treat. They are doing recruitment initiatives in October to coincide with Fire Prevention Month. There is a gun bingo on Nov. 6. Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m.
