Township takes enforcement action against campground

Franklin Township has taken enforcement action against a campground.

Supervisors unanimously agreed on Tuesday to authorize township solicitor Tom Nanovic to institute enforcement action against RelaxNation Campground and the use of a pavilion that was recently constructed.

Township officials said the campground constructed a pavilion without submitting land development plans and a stormwater maintenance plan, but have been using the pavilion regardless.

The board’s action comes several months after it heard from a resident who expressed concerns of noise coming from RelaxNation, formerly Riders Resort and Otto’s Campground.

At that time, resident Roger Crum, who lives on Rock Street, told the board the campground located at 1500 Rock St. put the pavilion “right in my backyard.”

Crum also told the board at that time the campground had been renting the pavilion out for weddings, concerts and graduations.

Nanovic told Crum at that time the board was aware of the situation and was addressing the matter.

It was noted at that time that the police department was notified of the loud music, and that if called and someone is on duty, they would enforce the noise ordinance.
