A motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a tractor trailer in Schuylkill County on Thursday. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred at 5:19 p.m. along Route 901 in Foster Township, just south of the intersection with Interstate 81.

Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Albert Barnes said the man who died in a fatal motorcycle accident Thursday was a Schuylkill County resident. He did not release the name because the next of kin were not notified.

The bike was a KTM 390 Duke and the rig was a 2020 Volvo truck-tractor with trailer.

Troopers said the truck was being driven northbound and the cycle southbound. The truck driver did not see the bike and steered across the southbound lane to negotiate a left turn onto the southbound access ramp to Interstate 81. The biker was unable to slow down before hitting the truck. The biker was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the county coroner’s office. The trucker was not injured.

The scene was processed by the Forensic Services Unit and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service of the state police.

Troopers said charges against the truck driver will be filed. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
