Local Roundup: Results from Sept. 17

The Tamaqua boys soccer team posted its first win of the season Friday by defeating Catasauqua.

Jacob Schlier’s second-half goal was only Tamaqua needed to gain a 1-0 non-league victory over Catasauqua.

The Blue Raiders’ Jon Ulicny made seven saves to record the shutout win.

For Catty, goalie Wesley Fotta stopped eight shots.

The win lifted Tamaqua’s record to 1-4.

FIELD HOCKEY

Lehighton-Bangor

Bangor scored a goal in the opening quarter and added an insurance tally in the fourth to gain a 2-0 victory over Lehighton.

Reagan Heard gave the Slaters a 1-0 start with her first goal of the season, while Bryanna Cyphers picked up her first career goal in the final frame.

Bangor (4-1) finished with a 23-1 advantage in shots on goal.

The loss dropped the Indians to 4-3.

Wilson-Northwestern

Wilson’s Jaelyn Raisner scored the only goal in the final quarter to give the Warriors a 1-0 Colonial League victory over Northwestern.

The winners held a narrow 14-12 edge in shots on goal.

The contest was Wilson’s first of the season, while the loss dropped the Tigers to 3-4.
