Summit Hill man pleads to conduct counts

A Summit Hill man, scheduled to go trial on Thursday in Carbon County court on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, instead entered into a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office and pleaded guilty Wednesday to two summary offenses of disorderly conduct with the welfare charge dropped.

Timothy Doyne, 36, was charged by Summit Hill police for an incident on May 20, 2018, at 12:44 p.m. Police received a dispatch from Lansford police concerning a small child who was walking down the hill between Summit Hill and Lansford (Route 902). Lansford police made contact with the child and took him into protective custody.

Doyne, the child’s father, told police when contacted that the child asked to go to a friend’s house in Lansford. He said he told the child to go ahead, not believing he would actually go. The child left the residence and was found by Lansford police.

At the time of the arrest, Doyne refused to give a written statement, police noted.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted the pleas and placed Doyne on probation for three months on each count with the terms running consecutively. He was also ordered to attend and successfully complete parenting classes, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
