Eastern Schuylkill County Democratic Club is hosting a school supply drive for the Tamaqua Area School District from Aug. 4-18.

Donations may be dropped off at Dawn’s Vinyl Designs at 19 W. Spruce St. in Tamaqua Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon. You may also drop them off at BACUCS, 31 Mantz Hill Lane, Andreas, Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Master Gardeners

Join a virtual information session on how to become a Schuylkill County Master Gardener at 6 p.m. on Aug. 9.

You can register for the information session at https://extension.psu.edu/master-gardener-training-information-for-schuylkill-county or call the Schuylkill County Office for an application at 570-622-4225 and appointment for detail.

Interested candidates will be interviewed the week of Aug. 16. It is not too late to apply for 20 weeks of instruction in a supportive learning environment on Thursday evenings which runs from October through March.

The gardeners are also introducing a hybrid training model this year which will give you the option to watch training session online from your home.

The class will then meet once a month for hands on learning at various local sites in the county. Master Gardeners are typically enthusiastic, fun loving, team players with a generous spirit to volunteer as educators in the local community. This is a great opportunity for personal growth and social involvement.
