Concerned about representation

I am concerned about the quality of representation that people in Schuylkill County are getting in the state Senate. My concern focuses on Sen. David Argall of Tamaqua. The other day he announced that he favored an audit of the state’s general election results that helped propel Joe Biden into the White House and unleashed a flurry of activity from the previous president that included an attempted insurrection on Jan. 6.

Even though we’ve already had two audits, Argall wants a third. Argall presents no evidence of widespread problems, the kind that would change the outcome. In fact, Argall’s basis for another audit is that he keeps hearing concerns from constituents. That’s it. No one has brought to the table evidence that there were problems, just concerns. And, of course, the concerns are the product of the Republican echo chamber in which the former president bellows about the rigged election and then his base expresses concerns.

It’s fruitless trying to explain to Argall the basis for his support is flimsy. So I would suggest that since he is willing to act on concerns, the next time anyone sees him, tell him you are concerned that the General Assembly is too big and too expensive and would he introduce legislation to reduce its size and each member’s salary and expense accounts. By the way, on the matter of an expensive and oversized state legislature, there is evidence. You can look it up.
