Local Roundup: Results from June 28

The Carbon Monarchs and Palmerton’s Connie Mack team both rolled to big wins on Monday.

The Monarchs downed North Parkland, while Palmerton rolled past Central Catholic.

Monarchs-North Parkland

The Carbon Monarchs scored in every inning, including seven times in the sixth, to roll to a 16-4 Lehigh Valley Legion victory over North Parkland.

Jared Joyce had three hits, scored three runs and knocked in a pair for the winners, while Randy Bongiorno contributed a single, triple, two runs and three RBIs.

Brandon Kocher added two hits, two runs and knocked in a pair, with Garrett Lienhard delivering a double and three RBIs. Lienhard also scored two runs, while Max Hoffman crossed home three times.

Michael Cadogen-Daugherty earned the win, tossing all six innings. He allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out five.

Palmerton-Central Catholic

Big games from Trey Sterling and Jacob Grammes powered Palmerton to an 18-3 Connie Mack victory over Central Catholic.

Sterling had four hits (two singles, a double and a triple) and knocked in four runs, while Grammes finished with three hits, three runs, and four RBIs.

The winners, who took the lead for good with a six-run third inning and followed it up with a seven-run fourth frame, also received a pair of hits, three runs and an RBI from Owen Serfass.

Kaleb Eitner added a single, a double and two runs, while Luke Netznik chipped in with a hit and three runs.

Chase Reph earned the win, allowing just two hits and two earned runs in five innings, while striking out five.

Bangor-Northern Valley

Bangor scored eight runs in the seventh inning to turn a 2-2 tie into a 10-2 Connie Mack victory over Northern Valley.

Hunter Rydell’s RBI-single broke the tie score, while Gregory Campbell capped the big frame with a grand slam.

The Chargers, who led 2-1 after five innings, were held to four hits. Nick Buskirk had a hit and scored a run. Shaun O’Donnell also had a hit and was solid on the mound, allowing just two unearned runs and striking out seven in six innings.

Valley Ath.-Blue Mountain

William Jacobson and Sam Bunnick each had three hits and scored two runs to help Blue Mountain gain a 13-4 victory over Valley Athletic.

The winners, who took the lead for good with a five-run second inning, also received two hits (one a triple) from Noah Moyer.

Valley Athletic’s Cian McLaughlin and Blaise Gigli both finished with a pair of hits, while Ryan Vecolitis contributed a hit and two runs scored. Lucas Milot and Jayden Kubert also chipped in with a hit and a run.

Limeport-Berlinsville

In a game that featured seven home runs, Berlinsville came out on the short end of a 13-9 score against the Limeport Bulls.

Northwestern graduate Jake Augustus hit one of the homers, as his two-run shot came in the first inning. Augustus finished with two hits and a pair of runs scored.

The Braves (1-13) also received a grand slam from Alec Bove, while JD Greeley, Kyle Friebolin, Conor Howland and Connor Teschko all collected two hits.

Northern Lehigh grad Cody Krupa chipped in with a hit and a run.

The Bulls, who jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Berlinsville rallied for eight unanswered runs, tallied six times in the sixth to pull out the victory. Damin Muth paced Limeport with two home runs.

NORCO LEGION

Birches-East Stroudsburg

On Sunday, the Birches swept a doubleheader against East Stroudsburg, winning the first game 8-4 before cruising to a 20-8 victory in the second game.

In the opener, Jack Smale had two hits (one a double) while Nate Mostosky also added a two-base hit.

Chris Frable gained the win with relief help from Ryan Kymer.

In the second contest, Jake Gethen collected three hits to pace the Birches. The winners led 5-4 before using a 10-run fifth inning to put the game out of reach.

Nate Loch added a triple, while Mostosky earned the victory.
