Festival/car show

St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, is having its strawberry festival, picnic and 17th annual car show Sunday.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. until noon. Breakfast sandwiches will be available at the food stand from 8 to 10.

The worship service is at 10 a.m.

After the worship service the activities begin again, including food and entertainment until 6 p.m. RJ Cramer and Scott Reppert as well as the Cramer Brothers Band and D.J. Eazy E will entertain.

Men honored

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will hear the sermon: A Man After God’s Own Heart this Sunday at the 10 a.m. worship service.

Men will be recognized during the worship service.

PVEN needs

According to Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, members of the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network supporting churches, the PVEN can use donations of salad dressing, ketchup, mayonnaise and canned vegetables for the food pantry, and the Clothing Closet can use shampoo, conditioner, body wash, women’s deodorant, toothpaste, wash cloths, bath towels.

Monday bingo

The American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, has announced an open community event, Monday night bingo.

Card sales begin at 6:30 p.m. and the calling at 7 p.m.

The games are slated to be held weekly throughout the year.

There will be food specials.

Jamming time

St. Peter’s UMC hosts Jamming time twice a month. The next gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Saylorsburg church.

Republicans meet

The West End Republican Club is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cherry’s Family Restaurant in Kresgeville. Those coming for the optional dinner should be there at 6 p.m.

Job opportunity

Western Pocono Community Library is now taking applications for a housekeeping position.

Applications can be picked up at the library from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Help is needed

Operation: Touch of Home is planning to set up shop for the NASCAR Double Header weekend at Pocono Raceway June 25-27.

Volunteers are being sought who can give some of their time to help man the group’s tent and get the word out that OTOH is back in business after the COVID-19 hiatus.

Call Tammy at 570-236-9695 as soon as possible prior to the events so the group will know what shifts people would like to volunteer for, so planning can be done accordingly. One need not volunteer the entire day, only the time one has available to help out OTOH.

On June 25, volunteers are needed from setup at approximately 12:30 p.m. until about 6 p.m. June 26 and 27, set up begins at 7 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m.

It is possible that traffic restrictions could be put in place before the events, so people should plan accordingly if attending.

Kettle Creek events

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced the Kettle Creek for Kids summer programs.

It is a series of environmental education programs designed for two age groupings: 3-6 and 7-11. These programs are offered every Tuesday, now through July 13. Programs for ages 3-6 run from 10 to 11 a.m. and parents/guardians must attend with their children.

The next program is Fishing Fun.

Programs for ages 7 to 11 run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Preregistration is required and limited to 15 guests. That program will be Pond Exploration.

Registration for each program will close once program is full or the day prior to the program.

Those who are not registered in advance will not be permitted to attend. Programs will start promptly at designated times. There is a cost per child per session. Pay at the time of program. Cash or check made payable to MCCD only.

Face coverings must be worn by all attendees at all times. Dress to be outside and anticipate getting feet muddy. Sign up limited to one session at a time.

Blood drive set

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, has announced its next Miller-Keystone blood drive for 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., July 11.

Warehouse sale

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity has announced its warehouse sales by appointment.

Items available include light fixtures, power tools, hand tools, paint, carpeting, insulation, gardening supplies, etc.
