Carbon County court

Three defendants, who previously entered guilty pleas in pending criminal cases, were sentenced to state prison terms Monday morning in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass imposed the sentences.

Drug case

Robert Coleman Cesanek, 34, of Nesquehoning, was sentenced to serve 24 to 60 months in a state correctional institution on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

He was arrested by Lansford police on Nov. 8, 2019. He originally entered a guilty to the charge, but then withdrew it when he was admitted into the county’s drug treatment program. However, he violated the rules of the program and was terminated for it.

Cesanek, who is an inmate in the county prison and appeared by video conference, told the court, “I’ve been fighting drug addiction for a long time.” He said he wants to address it and hopes to get into the state drug treatment program.

In addition to the jail term Cesanek was ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance imposed on drug or alcohol use, supply a DNA sample and pay court costs of about $1,000.

He was given credit for 187 days already served.
