The 11th annual car show to benefit Monroe County Meals on Wheels was held at the West End Fairgrounds. Boomer’s Car Club was a first time sponsor for the event with more than 80 cars signed up for the show.

Boomer’s Car Club began in 2024 when a group of friends with a common interest in cars got together. Rita George, wife of Club President Patrick Delena, said, “We’re friends who love time together and helping the community.

“Monroe County Meals on Wheels serves 300 to 350 local residents. They deliver “daily meals and/or frozen meals to those who are unable to shop and/or prepare meals for themselves due to a physical or mental health condition.”

Dennis Peters brought his 1966 Mustang 289 high performance car, which he purchased three months ago.

Peters said he had one when he was younger, so he wanted another one. He did work on the brakes, engine and suspension before showing the car at this his first show.

Carol Bartholomew and Martin Clark of Palmerton, showed their “mystic maroon” 1936 Nash. They purchased the car in 2020 and have done body and engine work on the car.

A basket raffle also was held with proceeds going to Meals on Wheels. Choices of baskets included restaurant gift cards, car products, wine baskets and flowers. A table of door prizes had car related items also donated by local businesses.

Joanie and Chris Narciso, mother and son, stayed up until early morning the day before making baked goods to sell. This included homemade chocolate chip cookies, apple strudel, brownies, shoofly pie, and angel wings, mom’s favorite.

All the proceeds went to Meals on Wheels.

Food and craft vendors were selling their goods as live entertainment played on the stage.

Trophies were awarded to the top 20 vehicles. There were also trophies for best of show and runner-up.
