May 11, 1959 - Tony Fredicine wins two events, tying a school record in one of them, to lead Tamaqua to an 89 1/2-37 1/2 track victory over Hazleton. Fredicine runs a 10.2 in the 100-yard dash to tie the Blue Raider record, set by Steve Comisac and matched by Frank Ike. Fredicine also claims the 220 in 23.4. Lafay Hope takes the mile in 4:48.5 to establish a new mark at Hazleton’s Stadium. Tamaqua, coached by Harry Fetterman, also receives firsts from Jack Daukshus (440), Lou Stisowain (880), Curt Crush (120 hurdles), Larry Zalsky (broad jump), Mike Phillips (high jump), Gordon Kistler (shot put), Earl Hinkel (discus) and Tony McGroarty (javelin).
