Interstate 78 is closed in the Lehigh Valley because of crashes occurred at 12:20 p.m. in the eastbound lane at miler marker 56.4 involving five sedans and three tractor trailers.

Heavy duty tow trucks are on scene right now.

In the westbound lane at same location, there’s a jackknife tractor trailer.

Multiple road detours are in effect. Route 22 traffic is unable to get on 309 South, which is closed, and 78 Eastbound, traffic is being detoured onto 22 Eastbound.

Ambulances were dispatched.

The Fogelsville patrol unit is investigating these motor vehicle crashes.
