2021 primary election: Herrmann seeks election as mayor of Palmerton

Don Herrmann is a candidate for the office of Mayor of the Borough of Palmerton.

Herrmann currently works for Pencor Services, where he is a senior staff accountant for Blue Ridge Cable, Blue Ridge Digital Phone Company and Pencor Services. He has been at this position for 25 years. Previously Herrmann worked for the Department of Defense in Philadelphia, as a Logistics Management Specialist where he was in charge of technical manuals for the common avionics for the F-18 fighter jet. Both of these positions required extensive economic knowledge and planning with time management and finances.

Herrmann is married to his wife, Mary, and has a son and a daughter, who both attend school within the Palmerton Area School District. He has been an active member of the Palmer/Parkside PTO for 11 years. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Palmerton Memorial Pool. He is also an active member of the Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club, where he volunteers during the monthly breakfast and for various events for the children of the local communities. He also volunteers his time at the St. John’s Lutheran Church with their recycling program. Herrmann has been a coach with PTAA Baseball, Towamensing Soccer Club, Palmerton Youth Basketball Association and Bowmanstown Baseball.

Herrmann’s goal as mayor of Palmerton would be to clean up Palmerton and to help the community in any way to improve. He would like to keep the town safe by being in charge of the Police Department and work with the new police chief to set up new standards and make sure the police have all the equipment they need to perform their jobs effectively. He will continue to work with local organizations to improve the town and will continue his efforts to keep the park and downtown area clean, as well as continue to help with other community cleanup projects. Herrmann will listen to the concerns of all residents to help make the town a better place for future generations to come.
