A woman was injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash in Towamensing Township.

The incident occurred at 3 p.m. as she was traveling north on Route 209 in front of the Towamensing township fire company.

Her car hit a utility pole, snapping it off and causing at least one other pole to snap off as well. Reports from the scene the victim suffered chest injuries. Towamensing and Polk townships fire companies are on scene maintaining traffic control at the scene.

Traffic was detoured behind the firehouse while crews were clearing the scene.

State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
