April 21, 2001 - Marian’s Stan Dakosty and Al Donadi both capture gold medals at the annual Mount Carmel relays. Dakosty, who was seeded second in the 400, registers a season’s best of 50.42 to win the event. He also places third in the high jump (6-0), fourth in the 200 (22.99) and anchors the Colts’ 1600 relay team to a third-place finish. Donadi puts up a time of 11.0 in the 100 to earn the top spot. Also placing first is Tamaqua’s 3200 relay team of Mark Drum, Adam Rupert, and Ricky and Brian Cipko, who claim the gold in a time of 8:24.37.
