Sheriff’s office arrests wanted man at Dunkin’

A man who had a bench warrant and arrest warrants, was caught Friday at Dunkin’ Donuts in Lehighton.

Johnathon Rutman, 37, who has no known permanent address, was picked up after a months’ long joint effort by the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Carbon County Adult Probation Department and Franklin Township Police Department.

Acting on tips from the local community, authorities successfully managed to take Rutman into custody without incident.

Rutman had a bench warrant for revocation of probation out of the sheriff’s office, as well as arrest warrants from the Franklin Township Police Department for terroristic threats; criminal mischief; flight to avoid apprehension and a summary charge of harassment.

During the search of Rutman, deputies found a 6-inch knife hidden on him that was secured. No one was injured.

The sheriff’s office would like to remind the community to report any tips on wanted suspects to sheriff@carboncourts.com or call 570-325-2821.
