Lehigh County crashes

Area drivers were involved in Lehigh County crashes:

• A Carbon County driver was involved in a three-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:40 a.m. on March 7 along Route 22 in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville identified the drivers involved as Trevor J. Stroup, 19, of Lehighton, driving a 2003 Mercedes-Benz E320; Megan E. Sautter, 41, of Wilmington, Delaware, driving a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee; and Cong T. Nguyen, 50, of Bryn Mawr, Montgomery County, driving a 2016 Toyota RAV4.

Troopers said the Mercedes received damage to the front bumper, grill, hood and left rear bumper; the Jeep to the rear bumper; and the Toyota a deflated right front tire. No other details of the crash were given. None of the drivers were injured but a passenger with Stroup, Adrianna D. Nester, 18, of Lansdale, sustained a suspected minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, by Cetronia ambulance.

Troopers indicated Stroup was cited for careless driving and Nguyen for following too closely.

• Troopers also reported on a three-vehicle crash that occurred at 4:01 p.m. on April 7 along Interstate 78 in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, involving two Schuylkill County drivers.

Troopers said Matthew N. Mizgaiski, 54, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2010 Freightliner tractor eastbound when Elias Awad, 24, of Allentown, driving a 2021 Kenworth Northwest tractor, attempted to pass him changing lanes from the right to the left without clearance. Awad’s truck then struck a 2018 Honda HRV driven by Waveney Gibbs-Texeira, 49, of Pottsville. The Honda then struck a concrete barrier, traveled across the left lane and struck Mizgaiski’s vehicle.

The Honda had to be towed while the two trucks were driven from the scene. Gibbs-Texeira sustained a suspected minor injury and was treated at the scene by Cetronia ambulance personnel. No other injuries were reported.

Awad was cited for the crash.

• A Carbon County driver was involved in a crash at 4:55 p.m. March 24 along the northeast extension of the turnpike in North Whitehall Township.

State police at Pocono said Shelby L. Stempa, 20, of Nesquehoning, was driving a 2019 Kia Forte northbound when she lost control. The front driver side of the vehicle struck a concrete barrier.

Stempa and her passenger, Lauren E. Valletta, 21, of Breinigsville, were not injured.

• State police at Fogelsville said a crash occurred at 3:58 a.m. March 29 at the intersection of Route 309 and Mountain Road in Lynn Township. Jefferson P. Bachinski, 57, of Summit Hill, was driving a 2006 Volvo S40 northbound on Route 309 at an unsafe speed due to fatigued conditions. He awoke and turned the wheel of his vehicle to the right causing it to drive through the intersection with Mountain Road. The vehicle went off the north shoulder of Mountain Road, then struck guide rail, and rolled over.

Bachinski suffered a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.

He was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
