LVHN places final beam at Carbon hospital

Lehigh Valley Health Network today celebrated a huge milestone in the construction of its new hospital, Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH–Carbon), with a virtual topping off ceremony.

The ceremony was streamed live on LVHN’s Facebook page and featured the placement of the final steel beam, made with American steel, and remarks from Terrence Purcell, MBA, LVH–Carbon president, and orthopedic surgeon Nicholas Slenker, MD, with Coordinated Health, part of LVHN.

LVH–Carbon, located on Route 443 near Lehighton, will expand upon the services already offered in the area and feature an easy-to-navigate hospital. Some of the services that will be offered include surgical care provided by Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence, comprehensive heart care through Lehigh Valley Heart Institute and cancer care provided by Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute. The hospital also will feature a 24/7 emergency room that will be staffed by the same physicians who work at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest.

“Lehigh Valley Health Network is certainly not new to the area. We have been providing care to Carbon County residents for decades. LVH–Carbon will allow us to offer even more services and eliminate the need to travel for world-class care,” says Purcell.

The hospital also will offer complete outpatient diagnostic testing, access to state-of-the-art medical technologies and renowned LVHN patient care.
