Tamaqua pool set to open in May, passes available

The Tamaqua Borough announced Wednesday that opening day for swimming at the H.D. Buehler Memorial Pool is set for 11 a.m. May 29.

Due to current health restrictions, the pool’s occupancy limit is reduced to 250 patrons, who are expected to abide by state and federal health guidelines.

Applications for season passes for the H.D. Buehler Memorial Pool are available at the Tamaqua Post Office, Tamaqua Public Library, Fegley’s Mini-Mart and Our Family Mini-Mart. Application forms are also available on tamaquaborough.com and on the borough Facebook page.

Application forms, including payment and proof of residency, must be sent to the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, PA 18252. Checks and money orders must be made payable to “Borough of Tamaqua.” The municipal building is currently closed to the public. Application forms and proof of residency (copy of a utility bill or driver’s license) may be sent by mail or placed in the drop box at the main entrance.

Season pool passes for residents of the Tamaqua Area School District are $10 per person. These discounted rates are made possible through a generous donation from the John E. Morgan Foundation. Season pool passes for people living outside the Tamaqua Area School District are $100 per person. Season pass holders can also apply for temporary guest passes for visitors staying with them this summer. These passes are $20 per person per week for no more than two weeks. Patrons can pick up their season passes at the pool during normal operating hours.

Daily passes for Tamaqua Area School District residents are $5 on Monday through Friday and $6 on Saturday and Sunday. Daily passes for children under 6 years old are $1 per day. Due to the reduced occupancy limit, daily passes will not be sold to individuals living outside the Tamaqua Area School District.
