Ross Twp. Supervisors review road work bids

Ross Township supervisors reviewed seven bids for upcoming road work during the monthly meeting Monday evening.

The three supervisors read each company’s bid line by line and noted the type of materials that will be used.

Hanson Aggregates had the lowest bid for black topping and line painting. The bids included seven roads, but after accessing the costs and their budget, supervisors picked four that needed urgent attention: Flyte Road, Rolling Hills Road, Dogwood Road and Meadow Court.

Pocono Spray Patching Inc. had the lowest bid for seal coating and line painting on Young Road, Anchorage Road and two sections of Meixsell Valley Road.

The township will use money from the liquid fuels fund and the general fund for road repairs.

“Our general fund is doing well,” said Vice Chairman David Shay. “If we can afford to do it, let’s do it this year instead of waiting.”

The roadwork will begin after June 1 and is about 6 miles of township roads, said road foreman Ethan Brewer.
