Monroe man charged with sexual assault

A Monroe County man is facing charges following an incident that occurred at 12:11 a.m. April 1 at 12:11 a.m.

State police at Fern Ridge said troopers responded to a residence along Lamplight Drive in Chestnuthill Township for a report of sexual assault, terroristic threats and assault involving a firearm.

A 33-year-old woman from Newton, New Jersey, reported a man, identified as Frank Marks, 58, of Effort, requested sexual services from her. She refused and Marks then pushed her and then retrieved a handgun, a Beretta 9mm. He then held the gun to her head and stomach area forcing her to perform a sexual act. Afterward, the victim was able to flee and call 911.

Marks was taken into custody and charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse-forcible compulsion, sexual assault, and misdemeanor counts of indecent assault-forcibly compulsion, recklessly endangering another person, possession of instruments of crime, unlawful restraint and simple assault.

He was arraigned before District Judge Colleen Mancuso and committed to the county prison in Snydersville unable to post bail.
