Carbon County court

The following defendants previously entered guilty pleas to DUI charges and were sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika in Carbon County court on Friday.

Kelly Ann Ord, 38, of Palmerton, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2020, by state police at Lehighton in Lower Towamensing Township. She also pleaded to recklessly endangering another person with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office. Two children were in the vehicle. She refused a test.

She was placed in the RCP for three years with the first 30 days on home electronic monitoring, ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, render 100 hours of community service and supply a DNA sample.

On the recklessly endangering count she was placed on probation for two years, concurrent with the DUI charge and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Michael Vincent Plitt Jr., 33, formerly of Lansford, was arrested on Aug. 26, 2020, along Patterson Street by Lansford police for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was placed in the RCP for five years with 30 days spent in jail followed by 60 days on home electronic monitoring. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and supply a DNA sample.

On a charge of driving under suspension he was fined $200 and costs.

He will begin serving the jail term at 10 a.m. on April 9 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.

Colleen E. Coscio, 29, of Palmerton, was arrested on March 5, 2020, by Franklin Township police, after being involved in a crash. A test showed 0.27 BAC.

She was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $500, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

She began the jail term immediately.

Jason Joseph Houser, 37, of Lehighton, pleaded in two pending cases. He was arrested on Dec. 28, 2019, by Lehighton police, with a test revealing a 0.20 BAC. The second arrest occurred on Feb. 23, 2020, by Mahoning Township police. The second case involved a hit-and-run. His vehicle struck two parked cars. A test revealed a 0.23 BAC.

On the first DUI he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service. On the second DUI he was placed in the RCP for six months with 30 days spent in jail followed by 28 days on home electronic monitoring, pay a fine of $750 and license suspended for a year.

He will begin the jail term at 8 a.m. on April 9.

Josiah R. Johnson, 38, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 23, 2019, by state police at Lehighton after being involved in a crash on a motorcycle in Lower Towamensing Township. He refused a test.

He was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $750, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

He will begin the jail term at 7 a.m. on March 29. He was granted work release privileges.

Each defendant that was sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 a month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
