Nesquehoning cracks down on parking of large vehicles

Nesquehoning is cracking down on large vehicles parking on borough streets.

Last week, borough council adopted the new large vehicle ordinance that outlines parking along borough streets.

Large vehicles, under the ordinance, are defined as “articulated bus, combination construction truck, commercial buses, motor homes, box vans, moving vans, driveway-towaway operations, farm equipment, full trailer, house trailer, limousine, maxicube vehicle, mobile home, recreational trailer, semitrailer, boat transporter, tow dolly, trailer, single body straight truck, truck-camper and track tractor and any and all trailers attached to a motor vehicle or not.”

In addition, other types of vehicles, including boats, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and similar off-road vehicles, pickup campers, boat trailers, tent trailers and cases or boxes used for transporting recreational equipment, are included in the ordinance.

The ordinance states that residents with any of these types of vehicles are not allowed to park on borough streets unless they qualify to obtain either temporary or permanent parking permits.

Anyone who violates the ordinance is subject to a fine up to $300 and have that vehicle towed at their expense.
