State police at Schuylkill Haven - crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 12:18 p.m. on March 13 along Mountain Road in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said a 17-year-old female from Pine Grove was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta southbound and failed to negotiate a right curve. She over-corrected which caused her to lose control. The vehicle rolled over, became airborne and landed on its roof.
The teen sustained head injuries and was taken to the Hershey Medical Center. Her 17-year-old male passenger, from Pine Grove, was not injured.
She was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 7:07 p.m. on March 12 at the intersection of Route 183 and Old Mill Road, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Charlotteann Petlansky, 83, of Auburn, was stopped in the northbound lane of 183 attempting to make a left turn onto Old Mill Road while Kristen M. Kohr, 41, of Pine Grove, was southbound on 183. Kohr proceeded through the intersection and struck Petlansky’s 2008 Jeep Patriot on the driver’s side with the front of her 2017 Nissan Versa.
Petlansky had a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Kohr was not injured. Both vehicles were towed.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 10:31 a.m. on March 19 at the intersection of Route 61 and Brick Hill Road in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Dorothy A. Gittleman, 74, of Pottsville, was driving a 2020 Buick Encore southbound on Route 61 while Kenneth E. Brown, 70, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 2020 GMC Sierra, was entering into the intersection from a jug handle attempting to go straight onto Brick Hill Road. Gittleman failed to obey a red traffic light and her Buick collided with the GMC.
No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed.
Troopers cited Gittleman for the red light violation.
• On March 22 at 1:53 p.m. a two-vehicle crash was reported along Route 61 at the intersection with Seven Stars Road in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Anne K. Deibert, 53, of Sacramento, Schuylkill County, was in a funeral procession and attempting to catch up to the rest of the vehicles in the procession when she went through a red light at the intersection. At the same time Thomas J. Matukewicz, 42, of Auburn, was coming through the intersection with the green light on Seven Stars Road. Deibert’s 2017 Honda CRV struck Matukewicz’s 2009 BMW 330i in the intersection.
No one was injured and the Honda was towed.
Deibert was cited for the traffic light violation.
