Carbon man charged for part in robbery

A Carbon County man has been charged for his part in an attempted robbery of a motel in Luzerne County.

State police at Hazleton said at 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday troopers responded to the Red Roof Inn, located at 1341 N. Church St. (Route 309), in Hazle Township, for an attempted robbery. On scene a victim, an employee of the inn, told troopers at 9:50 p.m. he observed a white vehicle pull in front of the lobby. A man entered the lobby, walked behind the counter, and said, “give me all your money.”

The man then pulled an unknown object out of his pocket and pointed at the victim. The victim put his hands up and took a step back.

The county district attorney’s office was contacted and approved the arrest of Justin Nieves, 18, of Weatherly, and Isaiah Miguel Morales, 18, of Bronx, New York.

Both were arraigned before a district justice. Morales was charged with robbery, a felony 2, and terroristic threats, a misdemeanor 1. Bail was sent at $50,000 cash and he was committed to the county prison in Wilkes-Barre, failing to post the bail. Nieves was charged with robbery, felony 2.
