Auxiliary meeting

The American Legion Auxiliary is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. today at the Legion Post home in Gilbert. The Executive Committee will meet at 6 p.m.

WEPOSC meeting

The West End Park and Open Space Commission is scheduled to meet at 6:30 tonight at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building in Brodheadsville.

Lenten services

• Effort UMC invites all who are unable to attend the Lenten service in person tonight at 7 p.m., and who would like to view the Lenten service for this evening, to click on the following link: https://youtu.be/RUc2J8KyeFc.

The service is also available at effortumc.org.

The service is part of the Lenten series based on Seven Things the Lord Hates, featuring the North District clergy. Due to the COVID-19 church guidelines and restrictions, this study will be available for up to 40 people. Registration will be required, and registration for Sunday worship services is now open.

• Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, invites people to stop by for silent prayer and reflection from 5 to 7 p.m. CDC guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing are to be observed.

General meeting

Polk Township Board of Supervisors will be meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday, for a general meeting.

General meetings are for time-sensitive matters that require immediate decisions.

PVEN meeting

The PVEN board meeting is slated for 10 a.m. Thursday. The group meets via Zoom at this time.

Spring crafts

West End Park and Open Space Commission is holding a St. Patty’s day and spring craft event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Chestnuthill Park. The crafts include a shamrock and/or a colorful pinwheel.

Items will also be available as a drive-thru to take home craft materials while supplies last. This is a free family event at 221 Route 715, Brodheadsville.

Attendees need to wear a mask. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed at the time of the event. Please check back for updates prior to attending on the WEPOSC Facebook page under events.

No breakfast

There will be no breakfast Saturday at McMichaels UMC because of a mandatory church commitment.

Buffet dinner

Post 927 is holding a St. Patrick’s Day buffet dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. It is to include corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie and music. Doors open at 4 p.m. Dinner begins at 5 p.m.

Limited tickets are now on sale.

Lasagna dinner

Effort UMC will be accepting orders for traditional homemade lasagna with or without meat, through Sunday. The dinner, to be picked up between 4 and 7 p.m. March 19 will include lasagna, salad, garlic bread and dessert. It will come in two sizes, for either two or four people. Easter flowers

Effort UMC is taking orders for Easter flowers through Sunday.

Available are lilies, tulips and/or daffodils in 6-inch pots.

Service registration

Effort UMC is also accepting registration for its Sunday service for up to 40 people and also for its continuing Lenten services. Sunday services are at 8:30, 10 and 11:15 a.m. Call Thursday or Friday for the Sunday services.

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church reminds people to register for the Sunday morning services at https://rsvp.church/r/KgEqTSFS.

And, a reminder, PV Kids and Nursery is offered during the 11 a.m. service.

Church schedules

• McMichaels UMC is back in church to worship. The service begins at 9:30 a.m. It will also be on Facebook at the same time.

Communion will be celebrated this Sunday.

Those worshipping inside are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Worshippers are asked to leave the church promptly after worship.

• Mount Eaton Church, Saylorsburg, has an 8 a.m. traditional service and contemporary service at 10:30 a.m. COVID-19 guidelines are followed.

• St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, has a limit of 57 people being inside for worship services. The service is at 9 a.m. The service is also livestreamed.

Worshippers are reminded to bring their own elements on Communion Sundays.

• Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran, Kresgeville, offers a virtual service by email, YouTube and Facebook via the church site, which is ssplckresgeville.org.

• Zion United Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is holding in-person worship at 8 and 10:30 a.m. with CDC precautions.

There is also a Zoom option for the 8 a.m. worship and Facebook Live for the 10:30 service. Also available is a recorded Facebook service. The Saturday evening service at 5 p.m. has been temporarily discontinued.

Riders meeting

The Legion Riders will meet at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Legion Post home in Gilbert.

Confessions set

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church religious leaders continue to hear confessions Monday evenings from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Confessions will be heard in the Café and Room 122 in the hall.

Saturday Confessions will continue to be heard before Mass, from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

Valor meeting

The Valor PTSD meeting is slated to take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Main Hall at the American Legion in Gilbert. The meeting is open to non-Post members. It is sponsored by Valor Paul’s House in Jonas.
