Local Roundup: Results from Feb. 27

Panther Valley’s Erika Dubosky and Austin Hadley both recorded double-doubles to lead their teams to wins on Saturday.

The Panther girls defeated Shenandoah Valley, while the PV boys downed Northern Lehigh.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Panther Vy.-Shenandoah Vy.

A big game from Erika Dubosky powered Panther Valley to a 50-34 victory over Shenandoah Valley.

Dubosky finished with a double-double, pouring in 32 points while pulling down 14 rebounds.

The Panthers, who jumped out to an 18-point halftime lead, also received a solid overall game from Sera Robin, who had 12 points, five boards, five assists and four steals.

Faith Gottshall paced the Blue Devils with 12 points.

The win improved PV’s record to 6-16.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Austin Hadley recorded a double-double and Panther Valley pulled away down the stretch to earn a 67-55 victory over Northern Lehigh.

Hadley finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Panthers, who led by just three entering the final frame. Stephen Hood finished with a game-high 23 points, including eight in the fourth quarter when PV outscored its opponent by a 25-16 margin.

The winners, now 5-16, also received 12 points from Chase Weaver.

Ardit Mujovic topped the Bulldogs (1-12) with 22 points, while Jaden Marlatt chipped in with 11.

North Schuylkill jumped out to a big lead early and then hung on to post a 64-61 Schuylkill League win over Tamaqua.

Carl Brown scored 20 points to pace the Spartans, who led by 11 points after the first quarter.

The Blue Raiders (3-19; 2-12) battled back in the second half but came up just short.

Steven Hoffman registered a season-high 21 points, including five three-pointers, for Tamaqua, while Nate Gregoire tallied 16.

Lehighton-Whitehall

In a game from Friday night, Whitehall rallied to gain a 56-52 overtime victory over Lehighton.

Tommy Buskirk scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter to help the Zephyrs erase a five-point deficit and force OT. In the extra period, Bryce Bashore tallied five of his team-high 19 points to help the home team gain the win.

The Indians, who got to the free throw line 29 times compared to their opponent’s five, received a game-high 20 points from Richard Yturrino. Zach Hunsicker finished with 19, while Dylan Guyn added 12.

The loss dropped Lehighton to 11-9.
