February 27, 2009 - Amy Zehner and Kristen Kistler combine to score 36 points to lead Tamaqua to a 50-47 victory over Notre Dame in the District 11 Class 3A championship game at Martz Hall. A Kistler free thow and Zehner basket snap a 44-44 tie with under a minute to play. Zehner, who ends the contest with 21 points and 16 rebounds, adds three more foul shots to secure the win and the title. Kistler collects 15 points and eight boards in the game, which features eight ties and six lead changes. The Blue Raiders, coached by Joe Berezwick, also receive eight points from Kayla Hope.
