Four area boys teams picked up wins on Thursday.

Jim Thorpe posted its fifth straight victory, while Lehighton won for the fourth straight time. Also winning were Weatherly and Tamaqua.

In girls action, Northern Lehigh evened its record with a victory over Saucon Valley.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Panther Valley-Weatherly

Weatherly used a big third quarter to pull away from Panther Valley and gain an 81-55 victory.

Scotty Zoscin finished with a game-high 28 points, while Trevor Lowman added a career-best 17. The winners, now 14-7, also received 11 points from Jacob Solonoski and 14 assists from Antonio Colecio.

For the Panthers (4-15), Stephen Hood finished with 19 points and Chase Weaver tallied 17. Drew Kokinda also reached double figures for PV, ending with 12.

In the JV game, Weatherly earned a 60-54 win behind 20 points from Ricky Ray. Bradley Hood topped the Panthers with 14.

Five Jim Thorpe players scored in double figures as the Olympians rolled to a 76-51 victory over Schuylkill Haven.

Derryl Fisher led the JT attack, finishing with 18 points, while Chris Condly collected 17. The winners also received 12 points each from Kaiden Herron, Jared Marykwas and Caiden Hurley.

The win was Thorpe’s fifth in a row, and improved its record to 12-7.

Tamaqua picked up its third win of the season, posting a 66-53 Schuylkill League victory over North Schuylkill.

Luke Verta netted 21 points for the Raiders (3-18; 2-11), who used a 13-5 second quarter to take control. The winners also received 19 points from Nate Gregoire.

A fast start propelled Lehighton to a 54-26 victory over Northern Lehigh.

Richard Yturrino finished with 12 points, while Dylan Guyn tallied 10 for the Indians. The winners, who won their fourth straight game and improved to 11-8, also received nine points from Carter Strauss.

For the Bulldogs (1-11), Jordan Marlatt netted eight points.

Emma Niebell sparked Nolehi with a game-high 25 points. The Bulldogs (6-6) also received 10 points from Madison Seier and eight from Cadence Whalen.
