Jim Thorpe swept Panther Valley in a boys-girls doubleheader on Friday, while the Lehighton boys pulled off an upset at Blue Mountain.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Panther Valley-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe recorded a season high in points by rolling past Panther Valley, 71-49, in a Schuylkill League contest.

Kaiden Herron led the Olympians (9-7; 6-5) with 20 points, including eight in the second quarter when they outscored PV by a 22-10 margin.

Four players finished in double-digit scoring for Thorpe, as Chris Condly added 18 and Caiden Hurley contributed 12. Derryl Fisher also chipped in with 11.

For the Panthers, now 4-12 overall and 2-10 in the league, Andrew Kokinda hit for 12 points and Ben Kindt tallied 10.

Lehighton-Blue Mountain

Lehighton avenged an earlier loss to Blue Mountain by handing the Eagles a 52-50 Schuylkill League defeat.

Zach Hunsicker scored a game-high 20 points for the Indians, who lost by 21 points the first time the two teams played this season.

The winners, now 8-8 overall and 7-4 in the league, also received 10 points from both Richard Yturrino and Mason Costenbader.

Bryce Hensley tallied 16 points to lead Blue Mountain (10-4; 9-3).

Jim Thorpe improved its record to 16-4 by cruising to a Schuylkill League victory over Panther Valley.

Skyler Searfoss scored a game-high 19 points as the Olympians (13-1 in the league) won by a 55-30 margin.

Thorpe, which led by 13 after the first quarter, also received 12 points from Leila Hurley while Mackenzie Yuhas chipped in with nine.

Erika Dubosky finished with 18 points to pace the Panthers (5-15; 3-11).
