The Weatherly Area School Board on Feb. 3 reviewed salaries for spring coaches for baseball, softball and co-ed track and field. It was noted that language was consistent with previous seasons in case COVID-19 shuts down or curtails the programs.
Board member Gerry Grega attended the meeting as part of the Zoom meeting’s audience, and participated during the public comments section. He asked that the virtual meetings identify who is speaking, and show participants.
“I think the public deserves that,” he said. Grega also commented that he was pleased that the CCTI budget came in without an increase this year.
On the agenda, seven more right-to-know requests are listed, all made by Grega since Jan. 25. Most of these are requests for information on staff.
The only other public comments came from Lehighton Area School Board Director David Bradley, who questioned why Grega was excluded from regular participation, and a citizen who first noted that it is “difficult to hear” what is said at these virtual meetings. She then followed by asking when residents can attend these meetings in person.
“Not yet,” answered Superintendent Theresa Young.
In committee reports, member Brian O’Donnell suggested that the board hear directly from the representative from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. He asked fellow members for the approval to set that up.
