The Weatherly Area School District is back to in-person teaching since Jan. 19. Teaching is on a schedule that has freshmen and juniors in school Tuesdays and Thursdays, sophomores and seniors in on Mondays and Wednesdays. Middle schoolers are back in class Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Elementary schoolers are in every day but Wednesday. On the days students are not in class, there is an internet schedule for them. That also applies in the event of inclement weather, where classes shifted online.
School administrators project near 75% of the students are attending in person. There is adequate staff at this time, but there can be shortages. To that end, the district is seeking more substitute teachers. Pay for a substitute has been raised to $130 per seven hour and 20 minute day.
Earlier this month, the Weatherly Area School Board approved a resolution for an “enhanced facilities agreement” in order to obtain more staffing to do extra sanitizing, especially in the elementary school. The thought is to add a cleaning service to help existing staff.
