Lehighton Area school board

Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors on Monday took the following action:

• Approved the payment of bills for December 2020, $2,007,102.22, and January 2021, $4,089,896.43.

• Approved transfers from the general fund to the food service fund as per the reimbursements from the commonwealth: $86,281.43 for November 2020.

• Approved the following transfers from the High School Multi-Handicapped Support Function Code; $5,000 to the Psychological Services Function Code, $1,500 to the Elementary Center Life Skills Support Function Code, and $5,000 to the Learning Support Function Code.

• Approved a refund for the occupational tax for year 2020 in the amount of $122.50 to Susan Dietz; occupational tax for year 2019 in the amount of $122.50 to Mary Beth Goldberg; occupational tax for year 2020 in the amount of $125 to Alan Sienkiewicz; and occupational tax for year 2020 in the amount of $125 to Cheryl Sienkiewicz.

• Approved the closure of the ACE grant, athletic project, health benefits and security deposits accounts. Balances will be transferred to the general fund account.

• Approved the Special Education COVID-19 Impact Mitigation Grant agreement between the state through the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Lehighton Area School District for the 2020-21 school year. The total grant award is $19,619.

• Approved the Continuity of Education For Additional Targeted Support and Improvement Schools Grant agreement between the state through the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Lehighton Area School District for the 2020-21 school year. The total grant award is $55,050.

• Approved the Continuity of Education Equity GEER Grant agreement between the state through the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Lehighton Area School District for the 2020-21 school year. The total grant award is $39,000.

• Accepted the donation to the general fund of $2,500 from the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club Inc. and the donation of $1,000 from the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley Inc. to be used for the G2 Girls Group program.

• Approved the agreement between PenTeleData Services and the Lehighton Area School District for the eRate services and discounts for the school years 2021-26.

• Approved a Winter Credit Recovery program at the high school for students, at a cost not to exceed $150 per class, using the ELearn 21 system.

• Authorized the distribution of surplus funds from the Public School Health Insurance Cooperative to be refunded by check to the district.

• Approved a cyberschool agreement with Vision Quest National, LTD. The cost of the program will be recovered by billing the appropriate school districts of participating students.

• Approve a new affiliation agreement with Lincoln Technical Institute for the purpose of providing experiential learning for education students for the 2020-21 school year.

• Approved the second reading and adoption of the policies on extracurricular activities, interscholastic activities, emergency preparedness and response, and relations with law enforcement agencies.
