Weissport Borough Council held a brief meeting last week at the borough office.
One of the main discussions revolved around pay raises for borough workers, particularly the head road foreman.
A total of $11,236.20 was spent on borough workers in 2020, and the budget for part-time wages allows for a total of $13,000.
With only four members of the council present for the meeting, members were unable to hold a proper vote regarding a further look into the matter.
President Arland Moyer Sr., Vice President Brenda Leiby, Jennifer Ketchledge and Thomas Ketchledge were present.
Greg May, Linda Schoenberger and Mayor Paulette Watson were absent.
A vote at the next meeting is planned to go into motion to find out if a pay raise is feasible within the current budget.
A short discussion was also held concerning future community events in Weissport amid the pandemic.
A second “help your neighbor day” event is planned to take place in April, and a movie night in the park is planned to take place in May.
Members of the council expressed that as long as there are no major government restrictions concerning these small gatherings in the future, the events are allowed to take place.
Definite dates for these events will be announced at future council meetings as spring approaches.
The next borough meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 1 at the Weissport Borough Office.
