January 21, 1964 - Kerm Hoffman delivers a 21-point effort to help Coaldale gain a 67-56 Black Diamond League upset win over Jim Thorpe. The Tigers, coached by Geno Poli, take the lead for good in the third quarter when they break a tie score with a 9-0 run. Bob Berger collects 20 points for the winners, while Jeb Hart contributes 14. Coaldale, who had been winless in league play and ruins the Olympians’ chances at a first-half title with the victory, also receive 10 points from Marty Kodlick. For Thorpe, Jack Kmetz ends with a game-high 26 points.
