Lehighton Walmart donates $2K to St. John Neumann

St. John Neumann Regional School has received a grant from a local business it will use to buy new Chromebooks.

Girvin Janicki, store manager of the Walmart located in Mahoning Township, presented a check in the amount of $2,000 to school Principal Mary Comensky on Thursday.

Janicki said Walmart has made education one of its focuses for grant donations, and noted it has worked with the school in the past.

Comensky said the grant couldn’t have come at a better time for the school.

“St. John Neumann Regional School has benefited from the generosity of the Walmart Foundation in the past, and continues to enjoy a partnership with our local Lehighton Walmart each year,” Comensky said. “The funds delivered by Mr. Janicki on behalf of Walmart will enable us to purchase new Chromebooks for our students as we see an increase in our enrollment.”
