Tamaqua Public Library closed for repairs

The Tamaqua Public Library will be closed for the foreseeable future as its roof needs to be repaired.

“I’d like to offer the community an apology, because I know there are a lot of people that use the library for reading and computer usage,” said Gayle Heath, library director. “We’re shutdown until we get repairs. A big apology to the community for this mishap.”

Heath said the issues started Jan 4.

“We’re trying to get back up and running as soon as possible. A lot of the contractors that we have contacted are busy or not interested in a smaller job. Right now, we’re trying to find someone to do the job.”

Heath said anyone with an active library card, who is interested in picking up books, can visit Tamaqua.sparkpa.org and place a request to pick up from the library. Heath will curbside deliver them.

“I just feel really bad for the avid readers who use the library as a resource,” Heath added.
