Moravian athletes selected to Landmark Fall Academic Honor Roll

The Landmark Conference recently announced its 2020 Fall Academic Honor Roll selections, with 525 student-athletes receiving recognition, including 59 from Moravian College. The Honor Roll recognizes all fall student-athletes who have reached sophomore standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.

Four former area athletes were honored.

Tamaqua graduates Riley McHugh (senior, men’s soccer) and Brad Clemson (junior, men’s cross country), along with former Pleasant Valley standouts Morgan Covart (junior, women’s soccer) and Renee Mapa (junior, women’s volleyball) earned recognition.

It was McHugh’s third selection to the Academic Honor Roll.

Of the 525 student-athletes, a total of 298 have received the recognition at least once, and an impressive 102 seniors have earned the honor all three semesters they have been eligible.

The spring academic honor roll will be announced in late May or early June. The honor roll will include all spring sports, as well as men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming & diving, and men’s and women’s indoor track & field.

Moravian had student-athletes from all six of its fall teams that compete in the conference, with the women’s soccer program leading the way with 18 honorees. The women’s cross country and men’s soccer teams each had 11 selections, while the field hockey squad had 10 student-athletes selected. The men’s cross country program registered seven honorees, followed by the women’s volleyball squad with two.
