State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a hit-and-run incident that happened at 5:38 p.m. Dec. 26 on Canal Street in Franklin Township.

Police said a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox driven south on Canal Street by Alison M. Mertz, 33, of Lehighton, was struck by a vehicle attempting to make a left turn onto Route 209. The vehicle left the scene. No description was provided.

Mertz was uninjured. Her vehicle came to rest in a gravel parking lot at the intersection of Main Road and Canal Street, police said.
