A Coaldale man was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:48 p.m. Dec. 23 on Steely Hill Road in Williams Township, Northampton County, according to state police at the Belfast barracks.
They said Jamie L. Nicholas, 47, suffered “suspected serious injuries” and was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, by the Easton Emergency Squad.
Police said he was driving a 2007 Mack CV700 east on Raubsville Road and had entered Steely Hill Road when the truck’s passenger side tires left the right side of the road due to a ditch caused by poor roadway maintenance. Police said Nicholas turned the steering wheel to the left but the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and hit an embankment. Police said the impact and angle of the embankment caused the truck to roll onto its passenger side.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
