Lehighton family shares holiday spirit with decorations

It’s evening, and passers-by out for a leisurely drive slow down to soak in the images of the holiday season through the placidity of Christmas lights.

Judging by the plethora of lights and inflatables that adorn their yard, it’s clear to see why the home of William and Patricia Sharbaugh of Lehighton is easy on the eyes.

To hear William explain it, the couple’s home at 505 Main Road features a little bit of everything to help get people in the mood for what many consider the most wonderful time of year.

“It’s my wife,” William said. “She just enjoys Christmas, and every year she wants to add a little bit more on.”

William said the couple’s home features a lot of blowups, some wires, and plenty of lights to see at night.

Thanks to his helpers, William said it didn’t take nearly as long to decorate as in years past.

“This year was easy because both my kids helped, and my daughter’s boyfriend,” William said.

“We got it done in one weekend, instead of two weekends, this year.”

Though he doesn’t recall exactly when the family started to decorate their home, William said it has remained a tradition for many years.

“Just the Christmas spirit, that’s all,” he said. “Just the enjoyment; hopefully everybody has someone with a Christmas spirit.”

William pinpointed what he and his wife enjoy most about the holiday.

“Just being all together,” he said. “With her, she just enjoys the giving to the kids, and seeing their faces with everything they get.”
