West End hosts craft event

The weekend before Thanksgiving, the West End Park & Open Space invited children of the local communities to come and share what they were thankful for this Thanksgiving. The event took place at the Chestnuthill Park Building.

“We also provided a small craft they could make or take it home to make,” said Activities Director Kim Tuin.

She said that especially because of the recent months, it is good to stop and remember how fortunate we are compared to so many people.

The children made paper bag puppets and wrote on the puppets what they were thankful for. The event was from 4 to 6 p.m. More than 18 children participated and stayed to make their craft.

“Lots of tables were set up, everyone wore a mask and socially distanced and the kids came in shifts,” Tuin said.

She also added that there were quite a few who just stopped to pick up the craft and take it home.
