BOWMANSTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL
Bowmanstown Borough Council took the following action last week:
• Agreed to pay the Contractors Application for payment No. 3 for the Reed bed expansion project at the wastewater treatment plant in the amount of $96,654.
• On a 4-1 vote, agreed to participate in the Carbon County Council of Governments for 2021, and to review the benefits of membership in July. Councilman Darren Thomas was opposed.
• Announced that the security cameras that were previously purchased would not meet the needs of the borough and have been returned and refunded. As a result, the borough is awaiting a quote on security cameras.
• Tabled a quote in the amount of $1,650 to upgrade the outdoor lights on the pump station.
• A motion by Thomas to purchase a 2021 Ford Transit Connect XL at a cost of $25,469 died due to lack of a second.
• Approved the sewer install for 635 Mill St. received from Bellview Pump in the amount of $100 for trench box, and $150 per hour for digging.
• Announced that Chris Bixler, wastewater treatment plant operator, started Nov. 2.
• Agreed to allow the Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected to install board and maintain a community bulletin board in front of borough hall.
• Agreed to start lien proceedings on 649 E. Lime St. for unpaid sewer and garbage rents.
• Announced that a highway occupancy permit has been submitted in the PennDOT EPS system for repair to three inlet tops and grate replacements near 630 White St. A response from PennDOT is anticipated by Nov. 25.
• Approved borough secretary Tracy Burbage to renew her Notary Public Commission at a cost of $247.
• Announced that openings still exist on the borough’s planning commission and water authority.
• Announced that the Bowmanstown Family Activities Committee will hold Winterfest from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 12. At that time, Lime Street will be closed from Ore Street up to the fire company.
• Announced that the Bowmanstown Family Activities Committee will hold Christmas caroling starting at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 and meeting at borough hall.
