Residential garbage rates for 2021 will remain the same for Towamensing Township residents, while commercial rates will be discussed at next month’s Board of Supervisors meeting.

Approximately $27,500 from the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association were distributed to the Towamensing Township Volunteer Fire Company. According to Chairman Guy Seifert, the fire company will keep $11,000 of the funds and distribute the remaining balance to three supporting volunteer departments in Aquashicola, Franklin and Polk for “their consistent support.”

During the month of October, the fire company assisted four calls, sponsored trick or treat at the fire station, and participated in a trunk or treat at Beltzville State Park. They also hosted Election Day for the first time.

Fire Chief Steve Riggio indicated that membership flyers will go out in trash bills, and encourages interested people to volunteer.

He said, “we always need more volunteers.”
