District 11 football chairman Jason Zimmerman has confirmed that Friday’s 6A football playoff game between eighth-seeded Pleasant Valley and top-seeded Nazareth has been canceled.

Nazareth Athletic Director Ray Ramella released a statement at just after 5 p,m, saying that COVID-19 related concerns at Nazareth have forced the cancellation. Nazareth is now out of the tournament.

The Pleasant Valley-Nazareth game was the third district playoff canceled in the last 24 hours. Earlier, the Parkland at Stroudsburg game was called off because of COVID-19 concerns at Stroudsburg, and the Pocono Mountain East at East Stroudsburg South Class 5A game was canceled because of COVID-19 problems at East Stroudsburg South.

As a result of these cancellations, Pleasant Valley,Parkland and Pocono Mountain East will advance to the next round.

Earlier this week, Saucon Valley and Bangor were forced to withdraw from the district tournament.
