Pa. virus update: 2,875 cases is highest daily total

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Tuesday that there were 2,875 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 214,871. This is the highest daily increase of cases.

There are 8,855 deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 32 new deaths reported.

Local cases:

• Carbon County is reporting 638 cases, an increase of 14 cases since Monday. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 remain at 31. • Lehigh County is reporting 7,024 cases, an increase of 80. Deaths remain at 366. • Luzerne County reported an increase of 182 cases, bringing the total to 5,727. Deaths remain at 207. • Monroe County has 39 new cases, bringing the total to 2,131. Deaths remain at 135. • Northampton County has 5,700 cases, an increase of 45 cases. Deaths remain at 315. • Schuylkill County has 2,267 cases, an increase of 37 cases. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 remain at 97.
