State police at Schuylkill Haven detail crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes in Schuylkill County:

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:57 a.m. on Sept. 25 along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Leland A. Lundervold, 63, of Auburn, was driving a 2016 Ford Edge, was southbound and failed to maintain the proper speed and rear-ended a 2011 Jeep Patriot operated by Danna Pomales, 58, of Easton.

Neither driver was injured, but a passenger with Pomales, Antonio Pomales, 85, of Catasauqua, sustained a neck injury and was taken to St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Lundervold was cited for following too closely.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 8:19 a.m. on Oct. 9 along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Holly E. Shoemaker, 34, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2019 Ford Econoline E350 van southbound and pulled off the road and into the lot of the First United Church of Christ. The van struck a canopy in the lot that was connected to the entrance of the church. The canopy sustained significant damages. The van sustained heavy damages to the top. Shoemaker was not injured.

He was cited for careless driving.

• A crash was reported on Oct. 7 at 1:29 p.m. along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Mike Ghannoum, 77, of Pottsville, driving a 2009 GMC Acadia, and Ronald L. Edwards, 72, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan, were both southbound. Edwards was in the process of passing Ghannoum and attempted to merge into the left lane and struck the Acadia.

No one required medical treatment. The Tiguan had to be towed. Ghannoum was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 2:08 a.m. on Oct. 20 along Route 61 at Route 443 in West Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Joyce A. Heisler, 67, of Methuen, Massachusetts, was driving a 2003 Honda Odyssey northbound on 61 and exited onto 443 and then attempted to re-enter 61 and crashed. Heisler was not injured.
