Schuylkill records 78 new virus cases; 2,043 in Pa.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Saturday that there were 2,043 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 192,622. Daily increases are now comparable with what the state had in April 2020.

There are 8,654 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 29 new deaths reported. In nursing and personal care homes, there are 25,252 resident cases of COVID-19, and 5,489 cases among employees, for a total of 30,741 at 1,043 distinct facilities in 63 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,702 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Approximately 11,971 of our total cases are among health care workers.

Carbon County is reporting 567 cases, an increase of six. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 remain at 29. Lehigh County is reporting 6,376 cases, an increase of 58. One additional death has been reported for a total of 365. Luzerne County reported an increase of 41 cases, bringing the total to 5,052. Three additional deaths have been reported at 196.

Monroe County has 15 new cases, bringing the total to 1,983. Deaths remain at 135.

Northampton County has 5,232 cases, an increase of 48 cases. Deaths remain at 311.

Schuylkill County has 1,847 cases, an increase of 78. Two additional deaths have been reported for a total of 86.
